Feeding the Beast

Do we think that we can pacify the beast by feeding it?

In the ‘hood nowadays, one will observe, instead of thriving businesses, mostly boarded up buildings. Ninety percent of what remains consists of a mixture of churches, fast food eateries, or businesses that aren’t Black-owned. There’s even evolved a new term to describe the lack of grocery stores in the ‘hood, “food deserts”. So, you have easier access to McDonald’s, Popeyes or barbecued pork rib tips but there’s no nearby grocery stores that sell fresh fruit, vegetables and healthy foods. There aren’t even any decent medical facilities in the ‘hood. The areas that have the most crime are not near trauma centers. Black victims of crime, especially our youths, are dying because the ambulance had to travel so far to get to a medical facility equipped to deal with the injury.

In this same ‘hood during the Christmas season (or any other white holiday season for that matter), go to a Walmart and on some days, you can barely get into the parking lot, it’s so crowded. Carts are filled with “sale” items—TVs, varied electronic items, toys, etc. If any store there or abroad sells Christmas trees, decorations and other accessories, you can be assured Black people are snatching them up, they will be sold out before the season ends. As stated by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad in Our Saviour Has Arrived, “The merchants’ pockets are made fat for Christmas—the tobacco factories, the beer and whiskey traffic and wine. These three things, beer, wine and whiskey, find a great sale at Christmas time. Also, much wild game is bought. And the fattest pig that their farmer can produce is bought. All of these things, especially intoxicating liquors and the eating of swine flesh and drunkenness, dancing, and gambling, are done on the day that they commemorate for a man that they claim to have been a most perfect man; holy, righteous, the son of God.”

How is this helping us, throwing all this money to the American economy that won’t even give us decent grocery stores in our neighborhoods? Won’t even provide decent medical care in our neighborhoods? An economy that won’t even put decent schools in our neighborhoods and in fact, closes down schools? We don’t make decisions about the stores, hospitals or schools in our neighborhood, white America makes those decisions. All that money we spend on Christmas is not helping Black people, America uses it for anything but helping make decent Black neighborhoods; it’s helping, feeding, the American economy, the white beast that does everything they can to keep us down. It’s like we think that by putting all that money into a government that has done nothing but keep us oppressed with injustice year after year after year after year, is somehow magically going to start helping us. Seriously????

“We are celebrating the birthday of Jesus Christ.”

Nope. Even white people that pushed this mess on us acknowledge this is not true because Jesus wasn’t born in December, and admit that Christmas trees and Santa Claus and wreaths on doors and decorative lights have ZERO TO DO WITH JESUS!!! We do it because white people taught us to this, to keep money in their pockets, out of ours and to keep us worshiping a false God that cannot answer our prayers, cannot help us.

We need to stop celebrating this white holiday that is about nothing but keeping rich white folks richer and instead, spend our money helping each other to build up our neighborhoods. The amount of money that would be saved if we stopped throwing it away on tobacco, swine, liquor and gambling is mind-blowing, another topic for another day. White America is not going to help us clean up our neighborhoods, this is clear, so then we need to unite with our own, seek out other Black people who want to do for self, and work on opening our own grocery stores, our own hospitals, our own Black-run schools, stop supporting and throwing our money to entities who have made it clear they do not care anything about us. This is the teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

What’s your favorite cartoon?

Tom and Jerry! I don’t care how old I get, I will never get too old to enjoy a Tom and Jerry cartoon, watching Tom fall into all kinds of Jerry traps, he never learns, he never ceases trying to get Jerry no matter how many times Jerry outwits him. I even liked the movie. Some didn’t because they talked. That didn’t bother me, I liked it because in spite of their history, they put all that aside and came together to help each other and the little girl. And then at the end, back to the age old chase!

Fasting As In the Month of Ramadan

As Salaam Alaikum (peace be unto you)

December is the month the Honorable Elijah Muhammad chose for his followers to fast as in the month of Ramadan in the Islamic calendar. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Messenger of Allah, wrote in his book, How To Eat To Live Book 1, “We fast the 12th month of the Christian year to relieve ourselves of having once worshipped that month as the month in which Jesus was born. It is now known and agreed upon by the scholars and scientists of religion that nothing of the kind took place 2000 years ago. Jesus was born, not in the month of December, but rather–as God has revealed it and according to the season that history claims existed in that time–the first or second week in September.”

May Allah Bless all the true Believers have a successful and peaceful fast!!
